Sarah Reuben

Sarah Reuben is a Darwin-based writer, theatre maker, performer and producer. For her own Theatre Company, Ruby Gaytime Productions, Reuben co-wrote, performed and produced: Best, Short Change, Death Party and This Jew Sits. Sarah co-wrote, performed and produced I’ll Tell you in Person, which had seasons at both Darwin Festival 2020 and Perth Festival 2021 and Lower The Bar for a season at Darwin Entertainment Centre and a regional tour with ArtBack. Sarah co-wrote, performed and produced The Hypotheticals, which premiered at Darwin Festival 2021, a regional NT tour for ArtBack in 2022 (nominated for NT Performing Arts Award- Best Performance, Best Performer and Best Creative), Perth season in 2023 (nominated for a PAWA Award- Best Main Stage Production) and WA regional tour in 2024 for The Last Great Hunt. Most recently Sarah has been funded to co-write a site-specific all ages theatre work, NYE1999, a text based theatre show for The Last Great Hunt, The Gifts and an immersive sensory work for babies, Above: Theatre for babies.

 

Sarah is a co-creator of the nationally touring show Shania Choir, creator of the webseries ‘Deadly Tales’, regular panel host on NT Recap: Season 2 and was awarded NT Literary Award’s for best play in 2020 for The Hypotheticals, which she co-wrote with Jeffrey Jay Fowler and 2024 for She Sits. Sarah is a regular story producer for the live storytelling show SPUN and is the NT facilitator of ATYP’s Fresh Ink, a year-long program for young play writes. In 2021 Sarah completed her Postgraduate through the University of Melbourne in Creativity in Health, focusing on the intersection of performing arts and medicine. This resulted in a large-scale storytelling project aimed at increasing health outcomes for children living in remote Aboriginal Communities.
